Turned ponga objects

The wood of the mamaku is used to turn these objects with their distinct appearance. Mamaku is the Maori name of the Black Tree Fern. Native to New Zealand it is the country’s fastest and tallest growing fern tree with a hight to 20 metres and fronds that can reach 2 to 6 metres in length. The black trunk is motive for its name.
