With over three quarters of the population being Jews it is the only country that gyrates around the Hebrew calendar. Influences of Jewish holidays are reflected in school holidays and the nations rest day, the Sabbath. Imprints from Israelis with Arab roots are mainly noticeable in architecture and cuisine. Official languages are Hebrew and Arab. Although young as a country, the land is intertwined with historic ties to all three monotheistic religions the Jews, Christians, and Moslems.
