Typical Cloudy Auckland

Rainy and cloudy Sunday morning. It was a rainy and windy Sunday morning, was trying to protect my camera, tried to keep them dry as much as possible and managed to get the CBD and port. But learned one lesson, when you are going out to shoot on a rainy day, please always keep a cloth to wipe the lens and camera.

Attractions On A Day Trip To Devonport

South of the North Shore is the Auckland suburb 'Devonport'. It is a place that is either reached by ferry departing from Auckland, or a lengthier journey by car. The journey, often taken by Aucklander and tourists alike, takes just about 12 minutes.

By day Devonport charms with its historic buildings, ample cafe, lunch and dining opportunities combined with a stroll along King Edward Parade along the coast. Scenic walks up Mt. Victoria reward with a 360 degree view, while visiting the historic reserve on North Head lets you explore the remains of past fortifications.

In depth historic insights about the location can be acquired on a visit to the 'Devonport Historical and Museum Society' and the 'Navy Museum' located in Torpedo Bay.

Film lovers may be tempted to visit New Zealand’s oldest cinema 'The Victoria Picture Palace and Theatre' in 48 Victoria Road. The cinema was built in 1912 and was renovated in recent years. Phone (09) 446 0100 or visit http://www.iconiccinemas.co.nz/ to find out what is playing. Sessions start past noon and the latest at 8.30 pm.

An evening passage between Auckland and Devonport gives the pleasures of viewing Auckland lit up and the sparkling night sky, if it is a clear night.
