About 600 thousand square kilometre unravel on a travel to Ukraine, the second largest country in Europe.

Dominated by fertile plains and plateaus a mostly temperate climate is present. Two areas are mountainous the Carpathian Mountain and those on Crimean Peninsula.

The rivers Dnieper, Seversky Donets, Dniester and the Southern Buh line the land from north to south ending in the Black Sea and the smaller Sea of Azov. The resulting coastline of more than 2700 kilometres has a Mediterranean climate. The border between Ukraine and Romania to the south-west is described by the Danube delta. Bordering countries clockwise starting from south-west are Moldova, to the west Hungary and Slovakia, Poland to the north-west and, the Belarus to the north and Russia to the east.

The population estimate of the largest city was 2.8 million in 2008. It is too the capital located in central north and holds and important position as an educational, cultural, industrial, and scientific centre in Eastern Europe.
