A coastal walk with starting point at the northern end of the beach at Long Bay Regional Park led to the Pohutukawa Beach. The Beach is only accessible at low tide and is situated at the mouth of Okura River. Abundantly grows here the beady sea algae called Neptune's necklace.
The plant grows high on the shore. The olive
coloured beads are filled with water to secure their survival at low
tide. While other sea creatures like tiny fish swarms and crabs use
their moist ambiance and sight
protection as a save haven.
