Picnic With View Towards Kitekite Falls
A twenty five minutes walk on the Kitekite Track is rewarded with a fantastic view. A picnic table with view towards Kitekite Falls suggests resting and taking in the surroundings.
Afterwards the track descends to the waterfall basin. During summer it is a great place to swim in very idyllic scenery. To change your position from looking up the fall you can follow the track. It is another fifteen minutes walk steep uphill following the Connect Track to the Usher Cross. The reward is a striking view of the valley and laying in the shade a waterhole.
The Kitikite Track is reached by driving right away from the beach into Glen Esk Road. At the end is an area for picnicking located and it is the starting point to some hiking tracks. The area is closely connected to the timber milling history in the Waitakere Ranges, some traces are still present.
