Resources to Travel The Philippines
Philippines vacations lead to an archipelago with 7,000 islands and more of volcanic origin. Situated south of China and east of Vietnam in the west of the Pacific Ocean they form the Republic of the Philippines. Together they sum up to a landmass of 300,000 square km. The fact that 95% of the landmass is covered by eleven islands gives a glimpse to their sizes. These islands are Masbate, Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Mindoro, Panay, Palawan, Negros, Samar, Mindano, and Luzon. Only 400 islands altogether are permanently populated by about 96 million Filipinos.
Luzon the largest encloses one third of the total landmass and is home to half of the Philippine population. The capital City of Manila lies in the west.
The country looks back to a long history with the first human erectus setting foot to the Philippines as early as 400,000 BC. Despite this the Philippine Islands were named by Spanish explorer to honour the Prince of Spain.
