Our trusted family auto mechanic and friend Hein is also head of Mountain Rentals. There he runs a fleet of campervans/sleepervans. The fleet consists of Toyota Lite Ace or Town Ace fitted to sleep two persons and Toyota Hiace to sleep three persons.

Freedom camping is regulated in each region of New Zealand differently. However there are plenty camp grounds to choose from in tourism centres or more remote where powered or non powered sites are available.

They grant ideal conditions to cruise along from one scenic attraction to another and spend the night comfortably at any camping park. Best of all, the tedious task to put up and down a tent at each change of location can be spent with more exciting things like making new friends, exchanging travel highlights or just have a drink with your campervan neighbour.

The minimum New Zealand camper van rental is for 14 days with return to starting point. With depots in Auckland and Christchurch it is easy to start touring for 21 days and more New Zealand either from north to south or vice versa. At request Hein also takes care to pre-book the ferry transfer in Wellington or Picton for you. A smooth and convenient arrival is granted with Hein’s airport pick up service.

Cooking utensils are optional and can be rented for an additional fee. Experience tells it pays of to drive them around. Especially in remoter regions you will appreciate being able to make your own sandwiches and eventually heat water for a cup of coffee or tea. On many campgrounds some kitchenware is provided, yet it can be otherwise. However more flexibility comes with using your own.
