Devoted to the country, its nature and landscape photography the
Nelson resident travelled all over New Zealand to gather photo
material he then transformed as a successful self publisher into photo
documentaries, tramping guides, and posters

Resulting photography books are respected far beyond the borders of New Zealand. Popular book titles include: New Zealand Aotearoa, Classic Walks of New Zealand, The Nature of Things, Moment and Memory. In January 2011 Potton published: Eye on the Landscape.
Decades of travelling NZ and a growing reputation as a photographer seeded involvement as a Location/Still Photographer in motion pictures such as ‘The Lord of the Rings', 'Peter Pan' and 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe'.
In recent years growing international interest led to photo exhibitions in galleries in New Zealand, Australia, the USA, Poland and Jerusalem.
