Among them are Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui, and Hawaiʻi. To preclude confusion the island Hawaiʻi is often referred to as the Big Island.
About 1.3 million people call Hawaii home. Of these live 380 thousand in the capital and largest city Honolulu. Honolulu is on the island Oʻahu.
