Ornamental garden plant
Allium is a genus of liliaceous plants, with more than 600 species.
The image shows an architectural plant that is widely seen in West Auckland’s gardens and borders.
December comes and the ornamental plant shows off with big lilac and white balls crowning their long stalks. They are attractive year round. Their evergreen, long, and sword like leaves in a yellowish green form an attractive frame. After the flowering period the stalks and flower balls turn dry. Still nice looking the dried ball carries the seeds.
